2003 Chinese North American Sports Association Cup

1st Chinese Table Tennis Group Tournament

 

  1. General information about the Tournament

 

A.   This tournament is sponsored by Chinese North American Sports Association  (CNASA) and co-sponsored by MIT Chinese Technology Association, etc.

B.    Tournament title: 2003 Chinese North American Sports Association Cup-1st Table Tennis Tournament

C.    Date: Saturday, April 19, 2003, 8:00am-5:30pm

D.   Place: MIT DuPond Athletic Center

E.    All community groups, organizations and schools are eligible for this tournament

F.    The tournament is divided into four groups: Men's group, women's group, children's group (15 years old and under), and senior group (55 years old and above). Men's group is divided into A, B and C levels. Each team can only have one group for each level. Women's group is divided into A and B levels. Each team can only have one group for each level. Children's and senior's groups are not divided into different levels.

G.   Each team is required to register with CNASA before the deadline and submit a name list including team name, one captain, one coach, and three to five players.

H.   All players should wear their team uniforms.

I.      The first, second and third place will be awarded at each level.

 

  1. General rules:

 

A.   The tournament is divided into four groups: Men's group, women's group, children's group (15 years old and under) and senior group (55 years old and above).

B.    Only three players may participate in one match. Players may not be substituted once the match begins.

C.    "Best three of five" will be used for each group match and each individual game; "Eleven points" will be used for each set.

D.   Teams advancing to play-offs will be determined based on their accumulated points. If two teams tie on points, the team with the better set results will advance. If set results also tie, the team with the better points in individual set will advance.

E.    This tournament will use rules set by the International Table Tennis Association. The new serve rules will be used for Men's group. The old serve rules will be used for the other groups. Please check with the tournament chief referee for the new serve rules.

F.    Referees will not be provided in this tournament. Players are required to record game scores, sign result sheets, and submit them to the tournament organizer after each game.

G.   Forfeit will be counted as a loss.

H.   Interruption of a game due to injuries should be reported immediately to the tournament organizer. The game should be resumed after 10 minutes of injury treatment. If the game cannot be resumed, a loss will be counted against the team with the injured player.

 

  1. Schedule

                 

The tournament schedule will be decided based on the number of participating teams after registration deadline, and sent out to each participate team in early April.

 

  1. Disclaimers

 

A.   The captain of each team should arrive in DuPond Athletic Center one hour prior to the beginning of the tournament.

B.    As a non-profit organization, the sponsor (CNASA) is NOT responsible for any injuries occurred during the tournament. First Aid Kit will be provided to treat minor injuries.

C.    Each team should prepare drinks and food for own use during the tournament.

 

  1. Registration

B.    Registration fees: $40 for each men's or women's group; $20 for each children's group; Additional $30 court fee for each participating school or organization. For example, School A has three teams, one for each level A, B and C, the total fee is $150 (3 X $40 + $30 = $150). There is no fee for the senior group.

C.    Fees must be submitted to the tournament organization committee before the lots are draw.

D.   Lots will be draw before the event begins.

E.    Registration deadline: March 25, 2003
