United, can we stop the spread of SARS?

---by Yi Bao

As the battle to fight the spread of SARS in China, Taiwan and other Asia contries continues, a similar war, also fight by the local Chinese, took place last Saturday afternoon and night in one of the most prestigeous universities - MIT. But this war is for a different cause.

The 2nd annual CNASA team match tournament was held on 05/10/03 from 1:30pm to 10:00pm at MIT. Six regional teams competed each other, they are: Team CCLS (Zhou Qi, from Bridgewater), Team Bellows Farm (Paul Zhu, from Acton club), Team United (Bao Yi, formly from Netwon Chinese Language School, later changed name due to teammate reformation in the last minute), Team SuperDuper (Wu Youlin, also from Acton, last year champion), Team Hammy (George Dai, from Acton), and Team SARS (Philip Lam, consisted of two individual pairs registered separately through this site).

Team United, joined by other teams, "united together" to fight SARS. As we can all predict that regardless how hard they tried, they couldn't stop SARS. At the end, team SARS won the circular CNASA bridge team tournament trophy! Their total VP is 63. Team United won the second place by accumulating 62 VP. Actually, the winner and the second place holder was already determined in the first round when team SARS competing team United, SARS beat United by 11:9, mainly due to United one pair's first time play together.

Team SuperDuper, unwilling to give up last year champion title, came to the tournament with full preparation. They beat two other Acton brother teams and won a solid third place! Their total VP is 59. What a close game!

At the end, the organizor would like to thank all the players for their active participation and help in the game, which made the game one of the most successful games ever. Also, we'd like to thank CNASA rent the rooms for the game and all the other preparation work.

See you before Thanks Giving holiday for our next annual pair match tournament!
