122th Boston Marathon

Monday April 16 2018, Patriots Day, 122nd Boston Marathon will be held here in Greater Boston.

Boston Marathon is part of world Marathon majors of Tokyo, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City.

Boston Marathon, is organized by Boston Athletic Association¡ªwww.baa.org, and primarily sponsored by John Hancock Financial Services, since 1897.

Boston Marathon runs a worldwide oldest road major racing. 122th Boston Marathon will be estimated $201 million economically in spending to Greater Boston.

26.2 miles course starts Hopkinton, via Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley (way of 1/2), then, Newton (Heartbreak), Brookline to Boylston St Copley Sq Finish Line.

This year, more than 30,000 official entrants are from over 98 countries, 1000 member 200 outlets will cover the events, over 9500 volunteers.

Race is expected to start: 8:50am Mobility impaired at Hopkinton Start Line, 9:17am Push-rim wheelchair, 9:19am prw women, 9:22: handcycle; 9:32am Elite Women¡¯s, 10am Elite Men¡¯s and wave 1, 10:25am Wave 2, 10:50am Wave 3, 11:15am Wave 4, 11:56am Women¡¯s Open Division expected finish time, 12:08pm Men¡¯s Open Division expected finish time.

$19 million prize money will award the top winners.
Total award prize of $830,500 towards to top 15 women and men open finishers, with 1st place $150,000, second $75,000, third 40,000, fourth 25,000, and fifth 15,000, Top 5 masters 1st $10,000 and top 10 wheelchair 1st $20,000. Winners awarded additionally $220,000 towards open record broken, olive wreath, medal and champions trophies.

In recent years, there are more and more local Chinese athletes or students running Boston Marathon, especially since our CNASA has reported the exciting Boston sports over last decade.
Jian Wang, one of our CNASA (BeiMeiTiXie) chief organizers, who has been serving Boston Marathon for China team and local team since 2003, will officially run again with his training group this year in 122st Marathon. There is MIT student team will run into it as well.
